I normally charge by the completed project, not by the hour – because clients prefer it that way. These are professional rates for a professional job. As a former magazine editor, author of several books and a prolific article writer, I bring over twenty years of solid writing experience to your project. I have never missed a writing deadline, and will communicate with you fully and often to ensure your project is proceeding as you wish – and on time.
All my project quotes include two free rounds of revisions – this is included in the price, regardless of project size. Additional revisions are charged at a rate of $70 per 500 words (in most cases, one revision is enough). I am happy to include specified SEO keywords in your project if desired, but I always write for readability first.
I consider ‘one page’ to be 500 words. Charging by multiples of 500 words is the fairest and most accurate method for both writer and client. Page sizes, font sizes and spacing can differ greatly but the number of words is easy to measure. There are no hidden surprises in my quotes – you will know the total cost from the outset.
Mid-project face-to-face meetings, tele-conferencing and other additional non-writing requirements are charged at $85 per hour. If an initial face-to-face meeting is desired (and geographically viable – I live in Brisbane, Australia) I normally provide this first client meeting free of charge.
A deposit of 30-50% of the total project fee is payable to initiate work on your project. Larger jobs may be separated into milestones with separate payment for each phase. Payment may be made by PayPal, business cheque or Direct Bank Deposit (within Australia). Overseas payments must be made by PayPal. Net 10 Days is requested on all invoices (in the absence of specific corporate payment cycles).
